The hang gliding course is a unique experience. During this course you’ll learn the basic concepts of this exciting sport and the theory and the practice of Cross Country and Excellence. The latter will give you the skills to participate in competitions and long XC journeys.
This course is an introduction to hang gliding. Basic concepts will be introduced from the practical to theoretical. The goal is for beginners to learn technical control of the glider as well as safe forms of takeoff and landing.
Three (3) tandem flights with instructors
The goal of these tandem flights with an instructor is for the student to have an idea of what hang gliding is all about.
We start teaching how to control the glider, practicing in a simulator for a better understanding. Then we continue with increasing and decreasing velocity, turning maneuvers, planning angles, approaching flight plans, and preparing for landing.
In these tandem flights, students will take off with an instructor from 600 meters high, climbing to maximum heights via rising thermal currents. There, students will begin to practice steering the glider. After this session, we make an approach plan and we initiate descent, landing either on our feet or with the glider's wheel system.
These instruction flights last from 20 to 30 minutes.
Students will learn basic knowledge of aerodynamics, meteorology and microscale meteorology, an introduction to hang gliding history, and basic flying techniques. We will also learn about the materials used in the manufacturing of a glider as well as the accessory equipment for the sport.
Two (2) sessions of low-altitude flights
In these sessions students will learn how to control the glider on the ground and during take-off techniques via mini-flights leveling out around 2 to 10 meters.
All the equipment is included.
The goal of this course is to take solo flights, including learning safe ways to take-off and land a glider, as well as how to read weather conditions to maximize flight time.
Content of the Couse:
Content includes takeoff and landing techniques, how to take advantage of thermal rising currents, approaches, wind and turbulence, microscale meteorology, and reading clouds.
Seven (7) tandem flights with instructor
During these flights an instructor flies the glider high then passes the control to the student who practices differing speeds, turns, techniques to take advantage of thermal
currents and distinct approaches for landing.
Two (2) sessions of low-altitude flights
(from 2 to 20 meters), practicing takeoffs and landings using a static line or tow.
Seven (7) “solo” flights
This is the part of the course where the student starts to have autonomy in the air. Two instructores will be guiding the student with a radio system.
During this course we provide all the necessary equipment for the student.
At the end of the course students are awarded certificates as solo flight graduates.
The goal of this course is to learn about rising air currents and how to take advantage of them and thus produce longer flight times with higher altitudes.
Content includes flight in rising currents, navigation, in-flight speeds, physical conditioning, free flight tactics, and flight equipment.
Two (2) tandem flights with instructors
During these flights the instructor will provide students with precise information on how to most efficiently use currents.
Two “solo” flights (with instructions given to students via radio)
In these flights students will learn how to use rising air currents with radio transmitted advice from instructors on the ground. The equipment such as Hang Glider and harness, radios, varios etc. is not included. Please let us know if you want to rent our equipment.
CROSS COUNTRY COURSE
Discover the freedom of flying solo, develop the ability to fly over rough terrain and enjoy different landscapes. This course is designed for those seeking to travel long distances.
Content includes advanced meteorology, flying in rising currents, cross country flying techniques, flight plans, GPS use, physical and mental conditioning, and more.
An instructor guides students on radios during flights over rough terrain.
COURSE OF EXCELLENCE (COMPETITIONS AND LONGER XC FLIGHTS)
This course is geared towards flyers with greater accumulated flight time, for all of those that want to begin competing, and for those who want to fly longer distances.
Content includes advanced meteorology, flights in rising air, cross country techniques, flight plans, using GPS, physical and mental conditioning, and all the necessary aspects to compete and more.
Six (6) days of flying with over long distances over planned challenges such as varying speeds. A guide will fly with you during this trek.
This course is offered during competitions and at other sites apart from Valle de Bravo.
This course does not include equipment rental within its price.
This course is geared toward those who have taken an extended break from flying and want to get started again with an experienced instructor.
One (1) tandem flight with instructor
During this flight you will go through all the techniques to fly, reviewing optimum takeoffs, descent approaches, and safe landings.
Two (2) days of training with an instructor
During these two days you will regain confidence to fly to the best of your potential. This course is designed to meet your specific needs.
